FYI: How to Clean Your Crystals

There are several ways to clean your crystals. Water, smudging, Quartz cluster, visualization, salt, or Crystal Clear.

Salt water:
Most crystals enjoy being immersed in the ocean for an hour or so, after which they can be rinsed in pure water and allowed to air dry in the sun. A handful of sea salt dissolved in water works just as well.
Flowing water:
Holding the crystal under a waterfall, in a stream, or beneath a faucet will rapidly cleanse the energies. Allow to air dry in the sun.

Hold the crystal in smoke from sage, cedar, or sweetgrass smudge stick or use incense. A feather can be used to fan the smoke gently across the crystal.

Quartz cluster:
Stand the crystal on a large cluster of Quartz or other energizing crystal for approximately 12 hours. Stones that have a natural affinity with the moon can be left in moonlight, while those that empathize with the sun will benefit from the sunlight.

Visualize a column of pure white or golden light coming down to surround the crystal, cleansing and transmuting the energies. Hold that thought until the crystal energy shines out once more.

Crystal Clear:
A few drops of Crystal Clear in the washing water or sprayed from an atomizer will clear any negativity and restore the energy of the crystal.

Delicate or friable stones that would be harmed by water can be placed directly into salt or rock-salt crystals and left there for a few hours to cleanse themselves.

FYI: Difference Between Talismans & Amulets

I have found that it is very easy to confuse a talisman and an amulet. Many people use the two terms interchangeably. Amulets can be hand made or be a Nature made. They serve a general purpose to repel or protect the wearer/carrier. Also an amulet is naturally endowed with magickal properties that last for an indefinate time period. Talismans are the other hand are almost always man made. They are created for a specific reason to attract wealth, harmony, and happiness or to enable the wearer/carrier with powerful transformations. A magickal "charging" is required that usually lasts a period consisting of a year and one day. However, some grimoires claim a talisman's "lifespan" is three, five, seven, or nine years. Traditionally talismans are to be laid to rest in the soil of Mother Earth or cast into the ocean after it has served it's purpose.

How To: Preparing A Bath Sachet

This is a super simple way to prepare a bath sachet for ritual or just soothing baths. Take a good sized square of cheese cloth (I like to use a 12 by 12 inch square) place a bunch of herbs and/or essential oils in the center and then tie up the square snuggly so that you don't end up with soggy plant material stuck to you and clogging up your drain!

this method requires a little bit of sewing know-how:

1 square (10 by 10 inch) cheese cloth or other breathable, dye and toxin free fabric

Fold cheese cloth in half right sides together and stitch up two sides leaving one side open. this creates a "baggie". fold the raw edges of the open side of the "baggie" to form a channel/tube that is wide enough for your ribbon. stitch the channel/tube along bottom edge starting at one seam and ending about 1/2 inch from starting point. now thread your ribbon through. turn "baggie" right side out and  now you have a finished reusable  bath  sachet.

Don't forget to purify your bath sachet favric square or "baggie" prior to adding herbs and oils. You don't want a ritual bath going bad becaues it got tainted by the one before.

Bath: Ritual Purification & Summer Magikal Cleansing Bath

This Recipie is ideal for use before all types of magikal rituals, or when you simply wish to feel clean and free of impurities.

*4 parts Lavender                  *2 parts Hyssop
*4 parts Rosemary                *1 part Mint
*3 parts Thyme                       *1 part Vervain
*3 parts  Basil                         *1 pinch of Velerian Root
*2 parts Fennel

-If you add more than a pinch of velerian, you'll be sorry. IT SMELLS! Also make sure to scrub clean the tub before an herbal bath. Not doing so will taint the bath and not yield the desired effect.

Use this mixture during the spring and summer to wash away the chills of winter and to "spring clean" yourself.

*3 parts Morjoram
*3 parts Thyme

sorry guys about not posting in so long but tax season is almost over and i should have more time to tend to the group. for now here's a tip:

never stir oils with wooden spoons. wood is porous and will absorb the oil use metal. also if you are looking for more traditional ways never use plastics. synthetics can taint a potion (if you're into naturalism). it's best if you can get a hold of a porcelain or glass spoon/stir stick. also use glass or porcelain bowls to stir in.

FYI: Candlemas

Candlemas: February 2
"Fire Festival"

Candlemas celebrates the coming of Spring and is a time for sweeping out the old. This is considered the first of three Sabats of the Growing Light and sometimes celebrated with rituals to invoke wisdom and prophecy.
